The top-20-percentile calculation is done for a single academic year only. The category-wise top-20-percentile cutoff marks for each board are calculated and published separately (by the relevant board/authority) after each academic year, typically with roughly a year's lag — e.g. the cutoff for the 2025-26 academic year is compiled and released after that year concludes, and used for candidates who complete Class 12 in that cycle. JEE Advanced does not use percentile-based normalisation like JEE Main. The JEE Advanced 2027 syllabus has not been released. It is expected to closely follow the 2026 syllabus, which is generally more conceptually demanding and slightly narrower in scope than the JEE Main syllabus, covering Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and — for B.Arch aspirants — the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT). The registration fee excludes service charges, processing fees, and any other charges the payment gateway/bank may levy. It is non-refundable and non-transferable once paid. Where two or more candidates obtain the same aggregate marks, the tie is resolved strictly in this order:दोन किंवा अधिक उमेदवारांचे aggregate गुण समान असल्यास, tie खालील क्रमानेच सोडवला जातो:

1. Step 1: The candidate with higher positive marks (i.e. marks from correct answers alone, before subtracting negative marks) gets the higher rank.Step 1: ज्याचे positive marks (म्हणजे फक्त बरोबर उत्तरांचे गुण, negative marking वजा करण्यापूर्वीचे) जास्त असतील त्याला जास्त rank मिळेल.

Note this is a materially different hierarchy from JEE Main, which uses NTA score in Mathematics → Physics → Chemistry, plus attempted-question ratios.
